In this section of the works and activities we do in the mbumland is literacy classes which take place at various Church levels. It will interest you to know that there are over and above 30 literacy classes going withing the division and some even beyond. We love to see all of the mbum people getting involved in learning how to read and write and even speaking the Limbum language. This is made possible with the availability of vibrant trained teachers who are given all that they need to help pass this knowledge to others.

The importance of the work done in literacy cannot be undermined and so we shall be sharing some images from the field in various classes. It is always exciting sharing this moment with you so you can better appreciate and pray for the work done this far.

You shall see in pictures how much is done in preparing for every lesson to teach. Church based literacy as we caption it, is a means to help the teachers prepare the students for the Old Testament which is on going. i we don't have people learning how to read and write and even write in the language, the work of translation will not be completed.

The limbum language is not learnt overnight. It is not something you wake up as a teacher and go and teach the people. It requires adequate preparations. you have to take time to plan the lessons for each class. That is what we do with the Limbum language as well. Teachers are always encouraged to take time to plan and prepare for the lesson they are teaching. That is why you can have that group sitting and putting ideas and suggestions together to present a lesson in class.

Teachers do not prepare and present lessons out of the air. There is a manual from which lessons and topics are prepared from. That is why they are required to use it to prepare for their classes.

reading in group

The students show how much they have learnt in class when they take time to practice reading which is reading the lessons taught to them in the class. As a teacher you want to see the student doing well in class and even out of class. in the mbumland, literacy classes are good places to test the reading ability of students.

Like we earlier said that many are making use of the translated copies of Ruth and Jonah to read in their various classes. This why we have literacy classes to prepare the people for the old Testament so that we can people who read in the Limbum language in different churches.
