Welcome to MBUMLAND

WELCOME TO THE MBUMLAND

Hellooooo Mbum. Here is a brief summary of the Mbum community. The Mbum community is found in the Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region of Cameroon. They are believed to have come from Tikari land of the West Region of Cameroon.

It was said that their father was called Pa Mbùm and he had three sons by name; Yaah, Tang and Wat. During the intertribal wars of the 16th Century, he left with the family and was moving towards the Western land of Donga Mantung.

At one point, they came and settled at Malah at Mbajeng for a while and at some other point their father died and the three sons started scrambling for chieftaincy. This caused them to scatter from there, each heading with his family to a safe place to settle so that he will be the chief of his own people. However, those of Yaah, went and settled at the highlands of Ndu and had their Fon who was known as Nkwee Yaah. Then those of Tang went towards Nkambe highlands and were ruled by Nkwee Tang and those of Wat, settled at Wat and gave the name of their Fon as Nkwee Wat.

Therefore hear comes the origin of the three fons that ruling the three clans of the Mbumland and over the years, the Fons have massively increased up to 33 fondoms and many sub chiefs.
